Alpatró is located in La Vall de la Gallinera at an altitude of 435m and had 165 inhabitants in 2021. La Vall de la Gallinera brings together a group of small towns (Benirrama, Benialí, Benisivà, Benitaia, La Carroja, Alpatró, Llombai and Benisili) a few kilometers from Pego. The capital of the valley is Benialí. They are villages arranged in a line along a valley formed by the course of the Gallinera boulevard boxed in by the Sierras de les Solanes, de l'Almirall and Serra Foradà that communicate with Vall Alcalà. They are agricultural towns that produce almonds, olive oil and cherries (with denomination of origin). They are small towns with great charm and a large number of paths for unforgettable walks.
Alpatró, also called Petro, Patro, lo Patron, Potron and Potro throughout history. He is documented for the first time in the year 1290 and his etymology is not Arabic, although in a text from the year 1578 he is cited as al-Batrún. In the 1950s, a tombstone from the year 942 was found (considered one of the oldest Arab inscriptions found in the Valencian Community), currently on display at the Camil Visedo Archaeological Museum in Alcoy. The Asunción church and the Alpatró fountain stand out, which is located right in front of the aforementioned church. It is also worth mentioning the old oil mill that currently serves as an ethnological museum, the Islamic photography of Castellot, and the washing place, one of the few in the covered valley, on the way out to Llombai and Benisili. In this town are the facilities of the cooperative "Cireres de la Muntanya d'Alacant" and also the Cooperativa de Sant Marc .
